Incredible India!

Manav and the team at PhotosIndia are helping us with a bunch of videos for our upcoming consumer internet service.

I found this video montage of an epic 10,000km roadtrip that Manav took with Jack Hollingsworth for their astonishing collection of Indian stock photography.

India in all her glory, enjoy!

James Nachtwey is my hero.

The best photographs capture moments at the extremes of human experience; unbearable pain, irreplacable loss, unkempt anger, fear,  frustration or boundless happiness, beauty and love.

Gustavo Dudamel at TED!

by faraz on March 15, 2009

Gustavo Dudamel and these amazing young musicians from Venezuela put up a jaw dropping performance at the 2009 TED Conference.

The Simon Bolivar Orchestra has an inspiring backstory; their music is clearly very good but the context of their passions is even more amazing! Members come from some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Venezuela, they have been adopted by El Sistema, ‘the system’, an organization that seeks to empower the youth through a music based vocational training program. Most of these kids had a real risk of falling to a life of crime and deprivation. Instead, they have us enthralled, that 15 year old kid on drums immersed in  Danzon Number 2.

Here, Sartorial pyrotechnics are not a prerequisite to enjoy brilliant classical music, and I think that’s the way it should be.

I bet this will have you hooked!

Pictures from Leh’08

by faraz on March 14, 2009

These pictures have been a long time coming. Me and Gaurav had decided on a whim that we wanted to be spectators at the Raid-de-Himalaya last year. We caught up with the brave souls at Leh. The camera froze and not much came out of the trudge!

Sissy!

Was it worth 1.6 billion?

Eric Schmidt has spoken on some of the challenges in monetizing YouTube’s traffic. Personally I’m not a huge fan of the pageviews-would-translate-into-money-someday/hopefully models but I have to say I love the TopGear channel on YouTube.

Vogue … ?

by faraz on August 19, 2008

Mygazines is a hot new service that offers scans of the most popular magazines online. I’m guessing the print media companies are not going to love the idea.
For now; I’m sure the girls would love the latest Vogue for $0, the guys would appreciate some parts of the Vogue and that latest issue of TopGear.

Enjoy!

Sam Javanrouh’s Daily Dose of Imagery was one of the triggers for an impulse buy of a Nikon D-200 last year, the love affair continues.
