About

Faraz KhalidIt’s hard to write about myself without making it sound like a job application, so let me get through it quickly.

1983 till now has been fairly busy. After dealing with the usual academic drudgery, I figured that the world was my pearl-bearing mollusk. So, I took up car rallying, rather seriously. That was fun, in the way that seeing imminent death or disfigurement is fun when they don’t happen, but it’s not really sustainable after your third car has been winched out of a ditch.

I do a fair amount of photography (you might have noticed!) and it’s a passion I believe will stick with me for a while yet. I’ve recently become very interested in golf, although as of now the less said about that, the better. Suffice it to say that my handicap is thirteen. Twelve clubs and a putter!

Which leaves the reason d’être of this blog. I harbor my share of opinions, and occasionally I permit a passing philosophical thought process to set up camp in the old hippocampus. Very few hippos around there nowadays, anyway.

This blog is essentially about observations. A large share of the posts are about my experiences as a start-up entrepreneur, I often digress to politics, semantics, stupidity and humanity in all its many wonderful forms. This blog is written during my time off from work, which is two-fold.

I co-founded Quadlabs, a software and data-management firm which has revolutionized the way travel companies do business online, and I founded and run GivePC, an award winning non-profit that is empowering the youth through computer donations. Read more about it at here, I’m quite proud of it!

That’s it, I guess. And about the opening line, disregard it, please. I heard they are looking for someone to replace the big man at Bombay House…!

Thanks for visiting, and please drop by again!
